Connecting
To Your
Web Folder
In MSJ Labs
You can
connect to the Mount's Student Web Server from any MSJ lab machine (CLC,
Student Scholar Center, LIB 16) to create or modify your personal website.
This allows drag-and-drop copying of files from a floppy, zip or CD-R to the Student Web
Server.
NB: You must
log out when you've finished this process. Start / Shut Down / Log
Off xxxLab.
The machines will automatically log-off and log back on, so they'll be
ready for the next user.
If you don't log off, the next person who sits
down at the machine has complete access to your web folder.
To create a connection on any computer,
follow the steps below.
- On the computer's desktop, double click the My
Computer
icon. A "My Computer" window opens.

- Double click the student on 'main'
[S:] drive
icon. A window opens displaying the contents of the
student data drive.
Navigate to the FacultyTemp folder, as illustrated.

- Double click the FacultyTemp
icon. A window opens displaying the contents of this
folder. In this folder is a folder icon with a globe on the
cover, labeled Student Web Server. Double click this folder
icon.

- An Enter Network Password dialog box opens. Enter your network credentials, as
illustrated:
User name: Your LastnameFirstname.
Password: ******* (same as MSJ email password)
- Click the OK button. Your
folder will now appear inside the window, as
illustrated.

- You can now drag-and-drop files into
this folder, create new files and folders, etc., just as you manage
the files and folders on your local computer or network drive
space.
- Double-click the folder, to view its
contents. Even if you've never connected before, the folder already has one file in it, index.htm.You can
modify or replace this page; however, you must have a file named
"index.htm" if your MSJ web site is to be linked from the
main "Student Listing" page.
- When finished, you must log out.
Start / Shut Down / Log Off xxxLab.
The machine will automatically log-off and log back on, so it will be
ready for the next user. If you don't log off, the next person who
sits down at the machine has complete access to your web folder.
